MMQ - Where Are You??? (Sept. 27, 2007)

Man, you people are something else....I didn't know how much you all enjoyed seeing this on Monday. "MMQ? Where Are You?" E-mails filled my inbox.... Unfortunately, duty called and I was out of the office Monday and Tuesday and, frankly, doing this at home on Sunday night just wouldn't have the same pop as doing it at work on someone else's time....So, here we go!

Normally, as all of the regular reader's have figured out, we start off with a game recap of the Mighty Michigan Wolverines. And while the Maize and Blue played a tremendous second half, and the defense has only allowed 78 yards rushing - ALL SEASON-THROUGH 4 GAMES (That is an incredible stat, isn't it?), and Mario Manningam and Chad Henne have developed a warm and trusting relationship throwing and catching two more touchdowns, I have to say that the victory over Wisconsin and the observations made in that game have to take a back seat to the following:

Game for the Ages

As you know, it really didn't matter all that much who won or lost this game as far as the MMQ is concerned....yes, it would have been nice to have Sparty come to the Big House undefeated so we could send them on their way to 6-6, but it was not meant to be....

Sparty, you have made history once again....and not the kind of history you want to be associated with. I have to admit, you had me extremely interested in the first half. Taking a 17-0 lead and even getting the defense in the act - you guys must have watched the Michigan-Domer Tail Kicking - and getting the D to score a touchdown and I started thinking that you might be for real....all the nay sayers and people who say that Sparty is a loser and will always be a loser and they will just take you up to the highest peak only to kick you in the stones later- THEY WERE ALL WRONG....But alas, if you were a Sparty in Spartan stadium or watching at your favorite watering hole or watching - as most Sparty fans I know - locked deep in the basement until you have won and it is safe to come out and face reality, well, not only did your Sparty team kick you in your collective nuts, they reached up and ripped them off and left them on the sidelines.....

Oh, the anguish, the sheer and utter pain of having a 37-21 lead AT HOME with less than a quarter to go and seeing your once thought to be Heismann candidate Stanton (Who I believe will be the next Lion's quarterback) hand it to the Domers with 3 turnovers.......(did he take Notre Dame and the points or what?)....Well, that had to be humiliating....and to not be able to rush the ball against a defense that everyone else had found a way to take advantage of to some degree - infuriating....and to see the team that you humiliated last year when you PLANTED THAT FLAG come into your house and win in that fashion....It kind of makes you think that there might be a higher power at work here. Maybe all that talk about flag planting does get to people.....maybe the Domers wanted it more...and maybe Sparty knew that they had it coming for not being sportsmanlike....Anyway, what word or words can be written to express how people must feel at this very moment that are associated with this team????? Wait - I've got it:

LOSERS!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

So - not only did your Monday Suck, but now, when you read this, your Wednesday is gonna suck too....Oh, by the way, I think the game is on Friday Night's ESPN Instant Classic, so Friday night can suck too, if you tune in....

Normally, I take great delight in seeing one of these teams lose..... And frankly, I was hoping Sparty pulled out the victory to further seal the coffin on the fate of Notre Dame's season.....but not only did you clowns not win the game, but you single handedly:
1. Put Notre Dame back in the BCS hunt.
2. Brought some of the Brady Quinn believers back out from under the rocks Michigan sent them under
3. Made a game that will forever be referenced in every video highlight when that damn fight song comes on and talks about "waking up the echoes..."
4. Gave all the Domers a game where they can say - do you remember that?

But - enough of the humiliating loss to a rival for now. Sparty has lots of those - I remember a Triple OT at Michigan Stadium where Michigan was down 17 points with 8 minutes left and came back to win.....So Sparty is used to this type of utter humiliation and losing......

Michigan did look good in their victory and got some much wanted REVENGE against the cheeseheads.....now back to Minnesota to retrieve the Little Brown Jug that was unjustly taken away last year and bring it home to Ann Arbor where it belongs.....

Gatorland - Urb keeps the Gators on track and in the top 5 nationally with a win over pesky Kentucky...
Iowa State - What happened? You guys never lose big games like that....I was surprised that Texas had it so easy with you....
Va Tech - Here they Come! "Like all Jolly good Fellows, I drink My Whiskey Clear! I'm a Wramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech and a helluvan Engineer!" This will be a test - and I might just like the BumbleBees - as my daughters refer to them - in this one (GT getting 9.5 - take GT and the points....)
Husker Nation - glad to see you can still pick on the little guys....I guess the Troy Trojans were easier to beat off - er - beat on than the USC Trojans....
West Virginia - Moutaineers rolling to a potential BCS game......and they get the week off......
Surprise of the Day - Colorado staying close and almost beating Georgia - don't believe stats, spreads, or anything....they have to play the games.....

I aplologize for being late......I hope it never happens again. This is much more enjoyable for me on Moday's as well.....

MMQ

P.S.

And all the regular readers thought the Title to this edition would be Sparty Sucks!
