Kid Day (Sept. 11, 2006)

What an unusual weekend for college football.....First, "Kid Day" at CMU turned out to be not such a great idea. Actually, it was a great idea during the pre-game tailgate as it was perfect temperature, sunny, and everyone was having fun. Then, with about 3 minutes left in the first, all hell breaks loose, the game is delayed, and the kids get drenched with no opportunity to stay dry (I forgot to bring Rain Gear into the stadium).....As a result, I left a game for the first time before the end of the 1st quarter.....But, the Mighty Wolverines were able to pull off the victory against CMU without us - even though we were intently watching with dry clothes on in front of the big screen.....and with that, Michigan looks ahead to the Golden Domers (jeez, I hate these guys) .....The Evil Empire of Gold and Blue or Green or whatever inspirational color those clowns will pull out for this game.....Early line has Michigan as a 7.5 point Road Dog......Advice to Gamblers - take the points - Michigan is NOT PSU......

But on to more interesting games

OSU - Texas. Okay, OSU has my attention. I know I picked Texas to win that game due to non contributing superficial issues.....NEVER AGAIN!!! Maybe OSU can bounce back from losing 9 defensive starters......Have we fully checked Tressel's background? Does he really have a degree? Does he have a cirminal record? Is he an internet freak searching for young kids? Is he hiding something? What happened to Cooper? I really liked him as a coach......and after seeing PSU lay an egg in South Bend and IOWA trip over their own sholaces against Syracuse, it looks like Michigan is the only thing standing in the way of these guys and a National Championship........ (OSU note - I guess an OSU partial education is worth something - Muarice Clarrett was deemed fit to stand trial...I really wouldn't have figured that.......)

Speaking of PSU, what were they doing down there in Domer Land???? I would say that they were playing BAD football, but they would actually have to start playing FOOTBALL in order for it to be bad football.....To let the Domers come out early and get that many points on the board is always a bad game plan....Hopefully, they get their act together against Youngstown State before they go to OSU....OSU might make them look even worse....And, because PSU played so lousy, we still have to listen to Brady Quinn being the next coming of Montana and having sewn up the Heismann trophy as we speak.....Jeez, I hate these guys....

Sparty - I have to admit, you guys provided the most entertaining 5 minutes of football on TV Saturday.....You let ESU run the same trick play you ran against them for a score to make it 24-10. Then, on the ensuing kick-off, the kicker onside kicks to HIMSELF and recovers the ball with 2 minutes and change left in the half!!!!! Then, to top it off - ESU makes the TD to pull within 7 going into halftime......All this by a Huron team that LOST to Ball State last week. I tell ya', I was starting to root for the Huron's - you know I wouldn't want to see Sparty lose that game (HA-HA!) - but I like a team that continues to play with heart.....But, you did put them in their place in the 2nd half....On to Pitt and a real game........

GatorLand - Okay Urb - you beat UCF impressivley.....Now, it's time to face SEC reality and the Tennessee Volunteers....I am still standing by my original pick - Go Gators and BEAT THE CREAMSICLES.....It's Big Game Time in Tennessee Land and you need to win this game to prove me right!!!! You are 4 point favorites so go in their and kick butt!!!!

My clicker is going to get a workout Saturday ( I better check the batteries) as the other notable game at the same time (8:00 P.M.) is in Claifornia and involves Cornhusker Nation - All right, the stage is set. You clowns are undefeated and still riding the high of winning your bowl game, etc, etc, etc. Can you go into California and beat USC? I am picking that upset so you better show up and show some heart.......Holy Mackerel - I can't believe that I actually think an 18.5 Point dog can win on the road against USC.....Can you guys really pull off the miracle? This would be the biggest upset of the year......

Otherwise, we are looking at a USC - Michigan National Championship game......(Or maybe OSU)

Cyclone Warning - Another tight game and victory over UNLV....with Iowa coming off a tight win over Syracuse, this game looks more winnable for you.....

Va Tech - We'll talk about you when you play somebody.....I know - but North Carolina is a nobody now.....

Other Notable Games:

Thank you BC EAGLES! You beat Clemson, effectively knocking them out of the National Championship hunt and off the lips of every announcer and prognositcator on TV......Clemson sucks......

The New Hampshire Wildcats beat the Northwestern Wildcats.......Too bad for NWU - losing their coach and losing to a team that I had not heard of until Saturday.......

NC State losing to the MAC Akron ZIPS on a last second Touchdown.....go ZIPS!!!! (Gotta love that name.......)

FSU almost losing to the Troy Trojans......FSU is in big trouble - they have averaged only 43 yards rushing per game this season....Even in the weak ACC, that isn't going to cut it....Expect the Seminoles to lose a couple of games along the way.....

Til' Monday,

MMQ
