Mid Week UPDATE!!!

Now That I’ve Settled Down…
In one of the Great Old Coach’s Books, Bo talks about having a defense being like a pack of hungry, rabid dogs.  He doesn’t want anyone to coddle them or tell them they’re doing well.  He’d like to keep them chained or penned up in a corner of the practice facility only to be released for practice and games while occasionally throwing them a bone or two with some scraps on it to fight over.  It would appear that’s what Michigan has on defense right now.  A rabid group of mongrels that are programmed to search and destroy…
Offense, OTOH, is more of a dance that you practice every day and get a chance to go to the ball once a week to see how much better your steps and moves are getting.  Bo stated, “You’re either getting better or you’re getting worse…There’s no in between.”
That being said, we should really look at Speight like this:
Week #1:  2 pick 6’s and missed passes galore
Week #2:  No Pick 6’s (YEAHHH!!! – Improvement), one fumble (vs. two turnovers the first week) and some other bright spots….
I know it’s reaching, but if Speight can get to no turnovers and hit every “relatively” open receiver in week #3, well, that’s improving!
PSU Wasn’t As Impressive As People Think
While the score against Pitt seemed lopsided, Pitt was actually pretty impressive against PSU.  I caught part of the game on a BTN replay and saw that Pitt was effectively moving the ball against the PSU defense (which I’m beginning to think isn’t that good) and made just silly mistakes and, of course, turnovers.

I stand by my early prediction that the Nittany Kitty-Kats are BEATABLE this season….the stat summary from the game:  Note total yards and first downs…
HYPRR Culture?
Holy crap, if you could clone PJ Fleck, you’d have no reason to figure out how to create safe nuclear energy.  You could just put 10, 20 or a thousand of him on electricity generating tread mills and have infinite energy for years to come.
He’s rowing the boat in Minnesota and will probably piss some B1G Teams off this season.
“31” The Horror Movie
Everyone is talking about the Stephen King remake of “IT”, the story featuring pure evil that initially manifests itself as Pennywise the clown.  HOWEVA’, there’s a new horror movie coming out titled “31” that will be opening in Columbus for Haloween and it involves the number of points scored against the Suckeyes that is required to defeat them….
Clemson 31 – suckeyes 0
Oklahoma 31 – suckeyes 16

Apparently, the osu is going to begin putting a red X through any references to the number 31 on campus before all games for the remainder of the season….

Beware the “31”!!!

And This:  Meyer On The Hot Seat?
I’m always baffled with fans that want to completely blow up the situation at whatever school because of a single loss (with the exception of the Aggie fan base.  Losing to UCLA the way they did was BAD.  That’s on coaching….) Apparently, there’s a lot of suckeye faithful that don’t understand what Urban Legend is doing with Barrett and why he’s sticking with his 5th year Senior.  They believe that Meyer is not, I repeat, IS NOT evaluating the QB talent correctly and point to Cordale Jones as the QB that “saved Meyer’s skin” and allowed them to win a National Title in 2015.  Now, bear in mind that this is the guy that won with Tim Tebow and that a small segment of the suckeye faithful think cannot “evaluate QB Talent”.  In any event, there’s a segment of “FireMeyer” people that are out there that want change…
The Question:  Who you gonna’ get?  Or do you just want to name Wilson to the top job?
And It Begins For Ole Miss
The Committee on Infractions hearings began for Ole Miss on Monday and is scheduled to end today, if they get through everything.  What is sure to be one of the greatest shit shows that Ole Miss will have to deal with, I’m not sure how they get out of this one without some serious, SERIOUS, penalties being administered by the NCAA.  Of course, I’ve been wrong before (ie Louisville).  So we’ll see….
FIVE TOTALLY REAL AND IRRATIONAL MESSAGE BOARD THREADS
“It’s ok, football won’t even exist in 50 years” - ndnation.com (Notre Dame)
“Urban = great recruiter, former elite coach” - bucknuts.com
“We still have a good chance at making the playoff” - TexAgs.com
“Can you fire a HC on the plane & then fire them again?” - AUTigers.com (Auburn)
“Bring back Art Briles” - sicem365.com
Wojo Pokes The Bear
Bob “Wojo” Wojonowski had the audacity to ask whether or not Coach Harbaugh had considered putting Brandon Peters into the game on Saturday.  As expected, Harbaugh more or less eye-rolled at the question (a lot like the MMQ did during the game when the two jack-rabbits behind me tried to start a “Peters” chant) and stated that Speight’s the guy.  Which, he should be and that’s the answer to the question.
Speaking of Texas A&M
I’m not sure the relationship with the Aggies and Sumlin can ever be repaired.  There comes a point in time (Michigan fans and Hoke) where we’d all seen, heard, talked about and became generally pissed off about stuff that even a NC wouldn’t have fixed.  In Hoke’s case, no head phones during the game, the “Big Boy Pants” line, and other shenanigans ended the relationship for a majority of the fans. (I’m not going into the Rich Rod Era, but the same crap applied).  For the Aggies, well, there’s just too much in the file to try to review here.  Off-season BS, player transfers and the UCLA loss is just the straw that broke the camel’s back.  Sumlin and the Aggies probably should part ways for the betterment of each party.
Baker Mayfield Apologizes
Due to the social media trolls “feeding frenzy” and the fact that they may have to play “the osu” again, Baker Mayfield was “encouraged” by the Oklahoma AD and coaching staff to “apologize” for planting the Oklahoma flag on the “o” down in Columbus.  Look this is a kid (and a team) that wasn’t getting any respect all pre-season and game week before playing in front of a suckeye crowd that, (can you believe this?), can be MORE THAN A LITTLE RUDE to the opposing team.
Bakers Words:
Mayfield said he understood why Buckeyes fans and players might be upset about the celebration.
"If they did that here [in Norman], I would've been pissed, too," Mayfield said. "I understand why they're very upset about it.
"But I didn't mean it to be disrespectful in any way."
Baker – words of advice:  You never have to apologize for backing it up on the field and letting your frustration out post game.  Have fun and enjoy it.
I mean, if you’d have done it at Michigan Stadium, I’d have been pissed, but I’d have gotten it and GOTTEN OVER IT.  Shit happens.

Be a kid while you can.
And here’s a great compilation of celebrations and some of the more Memorable “Sorry, But Not REALLY Sorry” deeds…
Frankly very, VERY Surprised that Sparty’s Infamous Flag Plant at The Domers wasn’t on this list!
