WE ON!!!!!

For everyone wondering just what in the heck the Warm Up jerseys that the Michigan Men's Basketball team is wearing this year mean, well, the MMQ just heard about it on the radio.  If this is old news to you, sorry.  Everyone else, it's the motivational phrase the team came up with this year.

WE
ON

"When Everyone Operates In-Sync"

So, there you go, in case you were wondering....In addition, there is a UM fuse box in the locker room and each player has a key word that they own.  So, when each player heads out on the floor before practice and games, they flip a switch "on" to motivate and remind them of what their key motivation is....

I guess "Go Blue" just doesn't carry the same weight that it used to.....

Harbaugh Criticsm and NCAA Go Away....

A few of you out there (you know who you are!) were kind enough to e-mail me and suggest that I take the "Michigan Road" and shun or banish Jim Harbaugh from the Michigan Family due to his outburst and degrading comments on Michigan's admission requirements while he was coaching at Stanford.  That I should NOT be rooting for Jim's success in The Super Bowl.  These types of e-mails make me scratch my head and go, "Hmmmmmm...."

Folks, the MMQ is here to say this:  IF there was ONE thing I learned at Michigan it's this - YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO CHALLENGE and QUESTION authority!  I'm sure Jim picked up on that in a class somewhere.  To say or suggest that the QB that single handedly beat the Suckeyes two years running and guaranteed it the 2nd time is somehow NOW disloyal and should be banished as a result of what was more or less a true comment (while he was coaching Stanford) is not only ricidulous, its a complete misunderstanding of what makes Michigan special.

Look - I'm a MICHIGAN fan.  That not only allows me to question the University, the Athletic Department, coaching, etc....It DEMANDS that I question it!  If we were all yes men and agreed with everything that went on...Well....we'd be either OSU or Sparty.  Or the Domers.   We can stand on our own individual beliefs and those might differ, but in the end, we're ALL MICHIGAN.

I hope that makes some sense to those of you that wanted me to ignore what Harbaugh accomplished here and later in the NFL and yes, even coaching at Stanford.   I'm proud of that Michigan Member and I'm hoping for his success.  Regardless of whatever comments he made while in the heat of the moment....

If you can't see that or don't agree with it, that's fine.  You, as a Michigan Fan, are entitled to that opinion.  But remember that in the end, you can't take away what he accomplished while he was here and least of all - who he LEARNED it from while he was here.....

NCAA – Please….Just Stop….Stop….It’ll be FAIR For Everyone

In case you haven’t heard, the NCAA has officially “botched” the Miami Scandal Investigation. How did they manage that? In 25 words or less, they apparently were going to base the punishment on some information that was obtained “illegally” and now that information is inadmissible.   The NCAA has to go back and “redo” everything it has by ignoring the information that they know….because there weren't and aren't supposed to know it.....

If that makes any sense to you, please respond and explain it to me….

I guess where this is going is that the NCAA can’t even be trusted at this point to collect information from viable sources in the manner they are supposed to obtain it. Yet, somehow, they can “justify” coming down on a University that was open and honest in their communication and that was rectifying that situation via the criminal courts (PSU). But other Universities that chose to clam up and not say nuttin’ get less severely punished than would otherwise be expected (USC And OSU).

Where does that leave any of this? Be a good guy and you get crushed. In fact, be a good guy and the long arm of the NCAA simply circumvents their investigative process (which, btw, must be the biggest bunch of BS that anyone has ever seen) and crushes you to within an inch of your NCAA football life…..Be a bad guy and don’t say nuttin’ and you’re still able to recruit, go to bowls…etc. That’s FAIR. Sure…It’s FAIR….Just like Title IX is fair to male athletes. I get tired of hearing that word in our everyday barrage of news and media. It has to be FAIR.  In what world is any of what the NCAA does FAIR??????

And seeing as how the NCAA doesn’t even bother with “rule benders” any more (see Bama, MSU, Arkansas and others) when it comes to oversigning….Well, What EXACTLY is the point of the NCAA anymore and trying to keep things FAIR? They certainly aren’t try to create a level or FAIR playing field even with the rules they HAVE!

Dan Wetzel as usual, hits the nail on the head. Amateurism isn’t dead, it simply never was. Amateurism was one of those things, per Wetzel, that was designed by rich people in order to create an unfair advantage….A perfect example is the “amateur” tag that has long since been removed from Olympic athletes…Certainly hasn’t hurt that event or the sports in that event, summer or winter.

Why would removing the amateur tag from collegiate sports be any different? A normal student who is an engineer, pre-med, pre-law, or whatever can got get a summer internship in that field and get paid. College athletes ARE NOT ALLOWED BY NCAA RULES TO EVEN WORK PART TIME IN WHAT MIGHT BE DEFINED AS THEIR FUTURE PROFESSION!

How, the MMQ asks…IS that Fair????

Let it stop….Make the NCAA go away. Let Student Athletes make money however and whenever they want to make money. That includes boosters throwing them a couple of bucks. And if there’s someone like De-Rob that can pull in $100G’s while he’s a student athlete, awesome. I have often wondered what would happen if somehow the golden calf of College Football were to somehow get taken away or diluted by regional semi-pro teams or what would happen if the NFL got its act together and started “Farm” systems similar to Major League Baseball. Sign kids out of high school for $250K a year that weren’t eligible to make it into a college because of grades. Arrange for special training for these kids in another field so it seemed like a noble thing to do if they didn’t pan out in football.  Something like a "glorified" ITT tech institute or something.... Sell tickets (in the current stadiums that the NFL cities and owners own) for $25 general admission. They could have all games be Monday Night Games. Or Tuesday. Pick a night and own it. OR it could be like the USFL and the season could begin in the NFL off-season. Six weeks after the Super Bowl. 12 game every other week schedule starting in March and wrapping up at the end of August. Get a couple of big name coaches to coach these regional city farm clubs that would be feeders to the NFL and once the players were old enough, they would simply enter the NFL draft next to their collegiate counterparts…

HOW FAST do you think the NCAA and the SEC, B1G and others would come around to the idea of athletic compensation?

The answer is: Pretty damn quick.

Harbaugh Super and "The Lyin' Hawaiian"

Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh in the Super Bowl!

I have to say that I was hoping for a Michigan QB vs. a Michigan QB, but seeing as how I can’t have that, I think this is the next best thing! I’m of course pulling for Jimmy, but either way, it should be a fun game.

Unfortunately, without Touchdown Tommy in the Super Bowl, Michigan will not be very well represented…Oh well….At least Jim Harbuagh gets his shot at winning one as a coach.

Another issue that I wasn’t going to touch has been all over the media and I was waiting until Manti came out and was interviewed before commenting. Now that he has commented, something isn’t sitting quite right with the Ole MMQ. And when something doesn’t feel right to me, well, let’s just say that I trust my intuition more and more these days and I trust people and what they say less and less….

Manti Teo’ –  The Case of “The Lyin’ Hawaiian”

I can’t take credit for Manti’s new nickname as it was texted to me by a loyal reader. You people are AWESOME when it comes to keeping me updated with all the latest. And for the days in which this story was breaking, I was chained to a supplier booth down in Cobo Hall at the Auto Show Supplier Preview Days, unable to stay abreast of the avalanche of media coverage in the Manti Teo’ case. Manti Teo’…. otherwise and forever more to be known here as “The Lyin’ Hawaiian”.

So, what exactly ARE the facts in this case? Here’s what (I think) we know at this point:

1. The Lyin’ Hawaiian had an internet relationship with “someone”.
2. That someone’s name is Lennay Kakua….Even though this person HAS NEVER EXISTED.
3. She was NEVER EVER, registered as a Student of Stanford
4. He NEVER met this woman after the Stanford game as he originally claimed
5. He never talked to her on the phone for 8 hours every evening, “listening to her breath on the other end of the line as she fell asleep.”
6. She DIDN’T die of Lukemia the same day as his grandmother (who did die)
7. He did talk to “Someone” that wasn’t Lennay, but was trying to pass herself off as this individual.
8. The Lyin’ Hawaiian’s Father (Brian) embellished the story with his own lies - After the Lyin' Hawaiian admittedly lied to his dad...
9. The Head Lyin’ Domer $warbuck$ himself believes that the Lyin’ Hawaiian is the victim here and has NO RESPONSIBILITY WHATSOEVER in the propagation of the hoax.
10. “The Lyin’ Hawaiian” does a 2 ½ hour interview with Schapp from ESPN. But no video allowed. Claims he was duped from the get go.

So, that’s more or less what we know.

As you can PROBABLY IMAGINE, the ole MMQ has a hard time buying ANY of this….And it reeks of being a huge cover up for what might, MIGHT, have have started out as an innocent relationship on line and it has turned into a story that is bigger than anything we’ve seen in a while and everyone who has touched or come into contact with it shares in the responsibility of perpetuating a hoax that could have been uncovered with a little bit of good, investigative journalism.

Instead, everyone, and I do MEAN EVERYONE (all internet news outlets, Television, ESPN, Today, GMA, and news and media outlets everywhere) just RAN with this story.

I have several questions to no one in particular, but if anyone can answer, I’m listening.

First: Why does a kid who is supposedly SMART ENOUGH to get into the Domer program and graduate in 3 and a half years fall victim to something like this? And then, why does he lie about talking to her every night (which he didn’t) and then MEETING HER at Stanford (which NEVER HAPPENED!) in addition to sending flowers to a funeral (his dad) that never occurred? All he did was text? There were no photos exchanged? He never sent her a Jersey? What gives?

Second: Why didn’t the press conduct a simple search for this woman back in September once her name was known and figure out who the surviving family members and friends were? I remember thinking at the time that I was going to have to suffer through at least a week of the morning TV barrage of friends and family of the Lyin’ Hawaiian’s girlfriend all wearing his jersey and gushing about what a wonderful inspiration The Lyin’ Hawaiian was to Lennay and how his relationship with her continued to inspire her to her last day…blah, blah, blah….Yet, that never happened. And I was frankly a little surprised then, but never really made the connection that MAYBE she didn’t exist. I was thankful nobody associated with her in any way wanted their 15 seconds of interview fame, but still surprised none the less.

Third: Why is the University of Notre Dame (And I used that term only because it may actually be the LAST TIME I EVER TYPE IT!) standing behind someone who has CLEARLY LIED AND EMBELLISHED a story for his own egotistical desires and possibly as a pre-meditated play to gain sympathy for the Heisman vote? Why does the collective DOMER BRAIN TRUST believe that there is no culpability what so ever on the part of “The Lyin’ Hawaiian”? How can it be that a University, founded under the belief in GOD and that doing the right thing from a religious and moral standpoint can be SO HYPOCRITICAL as to believe that The Lyin’ Hawaiian NEVER lied about ANY OF THIS? Could it be because it’s the same HRPOCRITICAL university that let Three Beer Floydd and Kung Fu Reese back on Campus and also on the Domer Football teams?

Fourth: Why hasn’t the Lyin’ Hawaiian come out and agreed to do a live interview? Why did he only agree to a no camera interview? Is he suddenly afraid of the limelight? Only someone with something to hide would take that road, and for the MMQ, well, it was the straw that broke the camel’s back with respect to who is guilty in all of this…..The Lyin' Hawaiian is hiding more than he is letting on and he wants everyone to believe that he was duped.  IF that's the case...well.....It's sad, really.

I will be frank right now: I hate the Domers. I hate them for more reasons than I can count. And I take a LOT of grief from DOMER FANS over that sentiment. That’s a fact. But never, ever has the University of Michigan embarrassed itself and sunk to the level that the Domers have now sunk to at this point in time. Right when it appeared that the tide was turning, the wheels have come off. Right when people who weren’t Domer fans started to see and believe in the “Domer Mystique” and started coming back into the fold, you have something as bizarre and sleazy as this.

Even some Michigan Fans have questioned why there is such a poison in my system that hates the Domers more than the Suckeyes or Sparty. Well, now it should be clear. The Domers are all about looking at their own situation as being “unique” or “Special”. If the Sandusky scandal would have happened at Domer Land you can bet that the Domer’s would have somehow spun it and explained that they were giving Sandusky a reasonable doubt of innocence.

There’s a pathological liar that formerly wore the Blue and Gold that is either too naïve to understand what he was doing (and I’m not buying that) or he was so wrapped up in the lie that he started to believe it. Dan Wetzel more than echoes my comments in his editorial.  Manti started "believing" the lie which led to more and more lies....It reminds of Castanza on Seinfeld when Jerry was trying to beat the lie detector test.

Castanza’s advice: “Jerry - It’s not a lie if YOU believe it!”

So here’s to “The Lyin’ Hawaiian” and the lies he tells. And here’s to a university that lies to itself in order to maintain a status quo of being better than everyone else.

When in reality, they are the biggest hypocrites of all.

This just in:  The Lyin' Hawaiian has tweeted that he has a new girlfriend....Fawn Lebowitz.

Oh, wait - UPDATE:  His new girlfriend is from Canada and he actually had sex with her....But just once....

I could go on....But what's the point....

That’s It….And There’s a Funny Thing Happening At Crisler Arena

Well, the end of the 2012 season couldn’t have been more anti-climatic than if the MMQ had scripted it himself. Back to Back National Titles for 'Bama. The 42-14 pasting of the Domers defense with what was supposed to be a “Defense Built to Stop Bama”. Without stating the obvious (oh, what the hell, let’s state the obvious), not only were the Domers not even close to being built to stop Bama on defense, but they were extremely overmatched on offense. So, while the score made it look closer than it was, I’m convinced Ole Nick let up on the throttle in the 2nd half.

RIP any thoughts of a Domer National Championship Domer (JEEZ I HATE THESE GUYS!) Fans….

RIP....

And now, what we’re all thinking: Will Someone at the NCAA PLEASE initiate an investigation into Bama and once and for all prove that oversigning is a big part of the reason that Bama and the SEC in general does so well? That’s not sour grapes…It’s just that a little parity in college football would be nice.

I will give a small kudos to Brandon: At least by having the stones to play Bama in the Kick-Off Classic, that loss will be long forgotten and overshadowed by the total self implosion and, for lack of a better term, turd that the Domers laid on the field down in Miami.

Thank the Gods for Miss Alabama Katherine Webb. And if you don’t know who she is by now…You soon will. She shot to over 100,000 followers on Twitter after Musberger’s post dinner Cialis accidentally kicked in when ESPN’s cameras found her in the stands wearing McCarron’s jersey. Seriously thought old Brent was going to lose it….And I guess I have a small problem with an announcer that was looking at a girl that is mathematically young enough to be his GREAT-grand-daughter and drooling over her like he had a shot at her (Yes – it’s true if you assume Alabama child bearing ages…73-22 = 51 divide by 3 = 17) ….I mean, it’s one thing TO THINK IT and no one but you knows that you’re an old pervert looking at and dreaming about a little youthful action…It’s another thing to lay it out there like you’re a drunk teenager….

The conversation went like this (courtesy of Yahoo):

Brent Musburger, the legendary 73-year-old play-by-play man, and former Ohio State QB Kirk Herbstreit.

"You quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women," Musburger said. "What a beautiful woman."

"Wow!" Herbstreit concurred.

"Whoa," Musburger said.

Why is the MMQ making a big deal out of this? Two reasons: 1. I think I have our Pre-Season Hot Seat Mascot figured out for the 2013 season. 2. In order to not embarrass the Domer fans and coaches any more than they embarrassed themselves I figured I would focus on the one aspect of the game that didn’t reflect poorly on the Domers. Webb.

The head Domer himself laid a huge egg of embarrassment on the entire Domer Nation when he was asked at halftime what he could do in the 2nd half in order to turn things around. His too honest response: Maybe Alabama won’t come out for the 2nd half.

Then there was one ESPN report that stated by game time, drunk Domer fans were paying over $1,000 for an end zone seat. With midfield tix going for 2.5 times that…..Jeez….$5,000 for a pair at the 50….That’s just dumb. But what a great re-distribution of wealth from Rich Catholics to Drunk Cousins….I can’t imagine a better way….But even this fan wouldn’t have coughed up that kind of dough if Michigan had been there.
I hope that was worth it.

But one bright Domer Grad outsmarted and got one Scalper….Hee-hee…At least there’s some justice (click to link to the article).

Actually, let’s get back to embarrassing the Domers some more. I thought, no... I knew that after the 2nd Bama score that the Domers needed to settle down, whittle some time off the clock and score themselves or the game was more or less over. I think I initially suspected it was over when the Tide rolled for their first TD right through the heart of the Domer defense and one Manti T’eo in particular.

It’s funny because it all happened so quickly that Brian Kelly didn’t even have a chance to get pissed off….

I’m not saying here that anyone else would have done any better. Everyone was making a big deal about a healthy Lacy being able to run over and through the Domer defense. And that proved to be fact. I’m not sure there was another defense in Oregon, Stanford, K-State, or anywhere that could have stopped Lacy. Therefore, an offense that could challenge the Bama defense was necessary. Why did the Quack Attack lose that OT game to Stanford? I really think that would have been a better game. Not saying the outcome would have been different. Just better.

And finally, as I’m not going to drone on forever about a game that by the end of the 1st quarter was over, I think we all owe Satan a small nod of respect. I mean, even if it is oversigning, Ole Satan has managed to keep winning even though he has retained only two of the original assistants that came with him to Alabama. And he has somehow managed to make average QB’s into playmakers and game changers, even though is self admitted strengths lie on the defensive side of the ball.

I know there’s Satan haters out there (Sparty fans – You know who you are!) and I myself would love to see nothing more than Satan lose every game for however many years he continues to coach. But that ain’t gonna’ happen.

So, we all need to hope that Satan’s mind eventually starts to give up on him and maybe…just maybe….some cracks appear in the armor and he can be defeated. Otherwise, Nick is just going to keep on rolling…

A Funny Thing is Happening In Crisler

I was going to post separately in order to give the attention to a team that deserves it, but then again, seeing as how I’ve never really dedicated an entire post to the Men’s basketball team and not wanting to jynx them in any way, I figured I’d throw in a blurb here.

In case you have noticed, the Wolverines are undefeated, ranked 2nd in the nation and are, quite frankly, a scary good team to watch. Yes, the beginning of each game kind of sets the tone with a, “Oh jeez…This is going to be the one they lose….” Especially after going down 7-0 to Iowa to start the game….And yet somehow these wunderkinds simply keep doing what they do and eventually wear the other guys out. And they shoot. And they go in! But, in no uncertain terms:

Trey Burke is the quickest guard in the league, period. Maybe the nation.

Morgan is a dominant presence inside and will not be denied….

Nick Stauskas hasn’t met a 3-point shot he didn’t like (and there’s quite a few that like him back to the tune of +50% from the Three Point Line!)

Tim Hardway continues to dominate from the two spot….

Mitch McGary is a dominant inside beast when he gets his minutes…

Robinson is a frosh with skills…winning freshman of the week honors during the B1G Season kick-off.

Add all that up with a bench roster that is equally as formidable and you have a 13-0 start with a 2-0 record in the B1G. I’m not saying anything yet about B1G Championship and all that….I know this team will lose in the B1G where they have already posted +90 points in the two games that they’ve played (Michigan shot 58% from the field and 46% from the Three against Iowa…and that’s not gonna happen every time out….But still!)…

What’s it all mean? This team SCREAMS Final 4. And everyone knows how tough it is to get to that level in a one and done tournament. But, they are laying the groundwork in convincing fashion.

If you haven’t already, take in a game. You’ll be glad you did.

Early Bowl Season And Who To Root For Tonight

Well, here we are at the proverbial end of the Collegiate Football Season. Tonight we crown a National Champion – but more on that in a minute. In the meantime, a question: What have we learned through this entire season and the post season format known as Bowl Season???

1. Michigan wasn’t as good (record wise) this year as they were last year. But the team may have actually been a little better. Seriously. Michigan lost to three undefeated teams and a pretty good USC team that they had beat until the karma-esque final play that I’m sure Northwestern fans everywhere loved.

2. Michigan is losing a bunch of key players, including a single guy that was responsible for 60-70% of the offense, depending on how you look at it. So, what does that bode for next year and years to come? Is there life on offense after D-Rob?

3. The Big 10 didn’t look horrible on New Year’s Day and in the bowls in general, but they didn’t win a lot of games, either.

4. The SEC on the other hand, DID look bad and seems to be very vulnerable to fired up squads. Louisville and Nebraska come to mind. Though Nebraska couldn’t quite close the deal against Georgia. Not so much for Louisville. They Dominated Gatorland.

5. The ACC also proved its mettle and won a couple of games. Maybe because Va-Tech wasn’t in a bowl?

6. Some schools laid colossal eggs in bowl games…USC (That would be the Trojans) immediately comes to mind.

7. Other schools prove the fact that a 4 team play-off cannot happen quickly enough (Quack Attack flexing its muscles against a worthy KSU and Johnny Football and Texas A&M should have had some sort of play-off shot).

8. However, in that same breath, a 3rd place nationally ranked Gatorland crapped its orange pants against Louisville and proved that conference champions (Even the lowly Beast) deserve a seat at the table if there is ANY play-off expansion to 8 teams. And conference champs should somehow be included in the 4 team format, even though that’s not possible. I cannot stomach the fact that Gatorland would have somehow been in the 4 team format this year and either Oregon or Stanford would have been left out….

9. Which begs the future question: Who would have been most screwed if the 4 team format were in place today?

10. And why does any of it matter if your team isn’t in it?

All good questions. But, the biggest question that has been eating away at the MMQ for the better part of 4 weeks:

Who, as a Michigan Fan, do you ROOT for to win the game tonight?

Well, it’s academic for me, but I have heard and had some discussions with respected fans and associates that have me scratching my head as to what I should be doing. Some pros and cons are in order for this game:

Domers (JEEZ I HATE THESE GUYS!) Win National Title:

Pros:

They are full of themselves and EVERYONE HATES THEM AGAIN EVEN MORE THAN THEY ARE HATED NOW! That part I like…

They come into the Big House next year more than likely a pre-season Number 1. And Michigan gets a shot at knocking them off that pedestal. I like that part, too.

They keep the SEC from having a Dynasty lock on the National Title. That part I kind of like, but it’s not that big of a deal for me, personally.
Cons:

DOMERS win the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! That overrides everything else….

Gholic on Mike and Mike in the morning will be absolutely impossible to listen to and would be a reason for me personally to cancel my Sirius subscription…..

Really? The Domers as National Champs? The MMQ might melt down even worse than earlier this season…Hence is why I’m posting today.

Satan Wins National Title

Pros:

Whatever. He’s a god in Alabama which is a state that truly has nothing else and College Football is all those people have.

He breaks the streak of the Bear at Alabama not beating the Domers…Which I didn’t really know until I read this article by Forde at Yahoo.
So there’s that, too…..

Cons

Alabama wins Second Straight National Title. In my honest opinion, that just gives everyone else something to shoot for.

So, in an effort to diffuse all the BS….Here’s all you need to know.

Roll Tide….Beat the Domers.

Other Stuff……

The Pennsylvania Governor’s office is suing the NCAA. And while I was initially enthused by this, it turns out its nothing more than a grand standing play by the current governor in order to generate support for his upcoming election. IF you don’t believe that, read this article in SB Nation and I think you might change your mind.

It actually makes me sick to think that a governor (or any politician) would use something like this for political gain. But, then again, I don’t know why it surprises me at all…..

Coach Kelly…No, not that one…The Good One. Apparently, after all the rumors, talk show radio heads stating that they KNOW that Chip Kelly is seriously considering going pro, and everything else surrounding the Oregon Progam, Chip Kelly is staying on as head coach of the Ducks. And if you’re an Oregon fan this AM, I’m sure you’re breathing a huge sigh of relief.

The Bowls – Specific Stuff….

Just looking at all the bowls and some comments on each specifically to that particular game….Nothing special just stuff…..

Rose Bowl: Somewhat of a yawner and I thought that Wiscy would come out a lot more pumped up for this game. At 8-5, they had a chip on their shoulder and something to prove with a coach leaving for a middle of the road SEC team….But, hats off to Stanford. They are for real and they aren’t going anywhere…On the other hand….

Fiesta: I hope everyone everyone got a good look at the Quack Attack. Chances are, it may never look the same again, even if Chip Kelly stays. That’s a unique group of athletes there. I also hope that everyone got a good look at K-State. Chances are, we may never see that team in a BCS bowl again….

Orange: Unfortunately not as close as I thought it might be. This one was tough to swallow as I thought the Huskies would be looking to show the world who the MAC is….kind of like

Sugar: Louisville showing the world that “Beast” football isn’t the laughingstock that everyone on the internet makes it out to be. One good coach in an established program can make a difference. Of course, how do you explain the Gators then? That’s why I like where the B1G is headed with respect to the coaches that are in place at this point….

Capitol One: Pelini should have won this one and Nebraska’s defense was absolutely pathetic….Sad to see a B1G without the ability to stop the ball…kind of like a Rich Rod team…

Cotton: And Stoops does the traditional egg laying squat that he has done so MANY times in the bowls that they are apparently referring to him as the “Bo Schembechler” of the Big 12. That’s not good, Mr. Stoops. You need to figure out how to win the last game of the season, no excuses.

Chic-Fil-A: The ACC comes through again and proves that it can play with anyone on any given bowl day. Les Miles has to suffer through a difficult off-season where he lost the last game and to Bama……

Outback: Notes to Dave Brandon:

1. Don’t schedule USC in the near future. You don’t currently have enough running backs to survive Jadeveon Clowney if the offensive line is going to throw “look out” blocks at a 6-7, 280 pound defensive end. Courtesy of Youtube because you probably haven’t seen it enough

2. Do find and hire the head referee from the Beast that awarded Michigan a first down after going 9 yards and 35 inches. That could make a big difference over time….In case you didn’t see it, the head of the BEAST officiating reviews the call here (she is as cute as a button!):

3. Advise Hoke that when the opposing team is going to send 4 wide receivers out on the final play, you might take a gamble and throw someone like Roundtree, Funchess, and other tall guys in on defense that can cover all those similar size and speedy receivers…..Sheesh…

Gator: A B1G victory over an SEC team. How come no one is talking to or about Dan Mullen for a job this year? Have they seen too much of what he hasn’t done at MSU?

Buffalo Wild Wings: Sparty manages to pull off the upset

Idle Thoughts From The Season and Bowl Season

-Gosh, it seems to go faster and faster every season.
-We look forward to it and then, “WHAM!”…It’s gone.
-Michigan will rebound from Denard.
-But we will NEVER EVER see anything like him again.
-Which is good and bad…
-I wish the Defense had been there when DeRob was hitting his stride…
-Then, who knows?
-I take that back…I do
-I believe Michigan is in the hunt potentially last year (or maybe even in Rich Rod’s last year?)
-Meaning that Rich Rod wouldn’t have been canned?
-And where do I go with that?
-IS a Rich Rod world better than a Hoke world?
-We need to see another season without as many key Rich Rod Performers on the field.
-Speaking of Rich Rod Performers: A Special thanks:
-Denard – I never dreamed a guy like you could do what you did in the B1G.
-Kovacs - You make me remember what heart and desire is all about.
-Taylor Lewan – Godspeed and may you somehow end up in Detroit
-Roundtree – Man, you provided some highlight material over the years…
-All the other seniors: Thanks and remember to wear your Michigan Man badge proudly.
-New Year’s Day is always better when Michigan is playing.
-Best Game: Without a doubt, the Outback.
-It’s the one everyone was talking about.
-Except it was because of that Clowney Hit.
-Can that guy carry a defense on his own next year?
-My guess is Spurrier makes a hell of a run next year….
-SEC will be ripe for the pickin…
-The Cocks will be in the MMQ’s early top 10…I know that.
-Wasn’t it fun to not have to watch the Suckeyes?
-Except we did have to watch Purdue and that wasn’t fun, either.
-Maybe the B1G can get its act together next season….
The FMQ

Well…The FMQ has posted it’s first losing season. I will admit now that I was not able to devote as much time to the FMQ as I would normally like to this season as part of changing jobs and other factors. Perhaps I will try a new strategy next season and we’ll develop a better handicapping system (or just use the one I had been using, even though it takes time).

Regardless of what happens tonight, the FMQ is going to finish in the red unless I go all in and gamble additional money on one of these two teams. And even though I KNOW Bama is going to cruise in this game, I just can’t bet the farm on it.

Michigan-Domers-Sparty - $20 - LOSE

And in case I’m totally wrong: Bama – USC – TCU - $20 - LOSE

LSU-FSU-Oregon - $20 - LOSE

And, for the mostly final tally…Could be $76 more if the Domers cover…OR god forbid…Win outright…..

Total Win:          $418

Bank:                  $659.50
