Wanna’
Meet The Two Guys That Could Bring The House Down?
Great article on Gotta and
Code, the two high level Adidas executives that probably have dirt on just
about everyone…
If you don’t
want to read it, a synopsis:
Gotta is the
senior level exec from Adidas and has a fairly solid reputation. Many of the people that know him are shocked
that he’s caught up in the middle of this.
Facing up to 80 years in the federal pokey is a prospect that he’d
rather not have to deal with. Chances
are he’s going to squeal.
Code, the son
of a judge from Greenville South Carolina, worked 10 years at Nike and led the
Elite Youth Basketball League. Code
got canned from Nike and was hired by Adidas in 2015. So there may be some bad blood in the Nike-Code
relationship and he’d like to get even.
In short, there’s
about 50 years of experience and back door dealings that these guys know
about. I believe it’s safe to say that
there’s going to be significant fall-out once these guys are formally
questioned. Could be that they are already
singing and the FBI is simply looking for additional warrants.
Code is the guy
that had his hands in everything and will more than likely pin some dirty deeds
on people that need to be pinned on.
After all, it’s
just college basketball and if the Pound Me In The Ass Federal Prison isn’t an
option you’d entertain (80 years of it), then you’ll probably give the
FBI anything they want. And more.
How bad could it get?
There’s some people out there who have been nosing around with lawyers
at the NCAA, studying the current charges in depth and drawing lines and
connecting dots. Estimates are that there
may be up to 100 universities and head coaches who could be associated with
this type of payola activity. That’s
a pretty big number…The NCAA is going to have its hands full for quite
awhile.
O’Korn Is the Starter
For everyone that was hoping and praying for
it – you got your wish.
O’Korn is the starter with Peters at Back-up. But after re-watching the Purdue game, I’m not
sure it’ll matter if Michigan’s O-line is as porous against Sparty as it was
against Purdon’t. Come on Defense! And Special Teams!
Spread
Concerns
13 points?
Seriously? That’s where Michigan -
Sparty opened on Monday. Luckily it’s dropped
down to a more reasonable 10 points, but still…Has anyone watched this
game for the last 10-15 years and do they understand anything about Sparty and
how they sell their souls to the devil in order to keep this game close? Sparty has beaten the spread 9 out of the last
10 games…I guess I know what I have to do on Friday.
The Mighty Who Have Fallen – Will There Be
Others?
There have been some major upsets in CFB so
far this season. The suckeyes and USC were both
top 5 pre-season teams. FSU
has completely fallen off the face of the Earth…A loyal reader sent a
note and was despondent when he posed the question:
Is it possible for anyone to beat the really BIG Guys of College
Football right now:
Clemson and Bama?
I would caution anyone and everyone that
believes they have all the answers in September for anything that might happen
in October or November. Those
months historically have been bad for teams sitting in the top 5 or 10. No one ever sees the “Big Upset” coming, hence
is why it’s a big upset!
Stanford was a 34-point dog when they beat USC with a 2nd
string QB.
Sparty beat what was arguably Urban Legend’s best team ever in
the shoe with a back-up QB two years ago…
Upsets happen. Any given Saturday. The big boys start reading their own
press and believin’ they can just coast…Upsets ensue….
Orgeron’s Buy-Out is $12M
Yes, you read that right. Orgeron has a buy-out of $12M in his contract. I dunno’ why. Because some idiot (Alleva) figured that’s
what you had to have because the other guys (Bama) gave Saban something
like that. And LSU is stuck with Orgeron
until 2021…Have fun with that. Who’s
this Les Miles person I keep hearing about?
Why Play Small FCS Schools? THIS CAN HAPPEN!
Why does the MMQ preach
that you’re better off playing a big name and losing than paying a small school
to show up for a “loss”. Because
sometimes the small schools DON’T COOPERATE!!! 4 Power 5 schools have lost to “lesser”
programs this season. (Granted, I’m not sure Rutgers counts as a Power 5, but
whatever)
Biggest Paycheck Losses This Year:
LSU paid Troy $985K
Syracuse paid MTSU $950K
Rutgers paid E. Michigan $860K
Nebraska paid NIU $820K
